Kenma lives a quiet life.
As prince of the kingdom of Nekoma, he spends his days immersed in the routine of the life inside the palace's walls. He didn't crave for big emotions or epic adventures, contenting himself with the stories he found in the pages of a book.
So when a group of adventurers appeared with the crazy idea of defeating the Great Demon King, no one expected the prince to even pay attention to them. But, against all odds, Kenma decides to go with them.
And his encounter with an absent presence will lead him to reread closed chapters of his life, blurring the lines between what's real and what's remembered.

Summary
Kenma knew something was wrong the moment Kuroo didn’t wish him a good morning. He had known his best friend since they were in elementary school. Because of this, he knows exactly what this lack of greeting means. Especially after what Yaku had told him earlier that day.
aku had approached him at the end of their morning volleyball practice, his brows furrowed in concern and frustration radiating off him in waves. “Hey Kenma, sorry to bother but I have to ask, is Kuroo like…okay? That dumbass seemed unusually out of it today.”
Normally, Kenma wouldn’t care all that much and would simply respond that Kuroo is grown enough to deal with his own shit. But the fact that Yaku of all people was concerned was a glaring red flag. If not that, then the way Kuroo kept sighing and not paying much attention to the others trying to make him smile at the very least, was even more concerning.
So here he is now, after school, standing in front of his childhood best friend's apartment trying to figure out what to say.
TLDR; Kuroo is stressed and bottling things up, Kenma goes and comforts him. Things are stupidly fluff from there.

It was their own little wonderland, a world of their own; just the lake, the park, the sun, and them. Kenma admitted that he had doubts about skating on a lake before, but he adored it. The silence, the peace, the solitude, it was perfect. More than all that, he adored Kuroo. He adored his dorky smile, his clumsy skating, the way that he saw his own adoration reflected in his eyes. He wished this moment could last forever, just the two of them on the ice, with the sun illuminating Kuroo's smile just like that and the ice glinting around them in the noon light.

He smiled sheepishly as he realized how far he'd glided out, almost to the center of the lake.
They were both too busy watching each other to watch his feet. -
