Tom had always considered it particularly petty on Albus Dumbledore’s part in assigning Tom to be the one to introduce muggleborn first years to Hogwarts. He was sure that Albus thought it was some sort of teaching moment, exposing Tom to muggles repeatedly as though he’d gain some sort of empathy and moral epiphany whenever he met a half-decent parent.
However, it didn’t matter how many muggles he met or how many of them actually tried to be a decent parent to their magical children. There were more failures than successes, more broken homes and troubled children than not.
And it seemed to be getting worse every year.

I just decided to delete the old versions of the other chapters (since some stuff changes and I don't wanna confuse anyone) For those who didn't read the original, this was a project I started in freshman year of high school. I don't know how far it'll get and I'll be treating this as semi-serious thing with probably not regular updates(we'll see what happens) Anyways this is gonna be a complete re-write of the series(some plot will be the same as...history is history) the main difference being the modern day story. When Katsuki receives a letter from a lawyer informing him of his grandfather’s death, he couldn’t help but feel guilt over not visiting him during the end of his life. He’d spent his summers as a child growing up on the farm as an escape from his parents. Mostly his mother. Katsuki had never really embraced his grandfather’s farmer lifestyle, though even he had to admit he was a better person for having gone through the character building.
The letter came just as life in the big city was getting a bit too hard for Katsuki to handle. Between his long-time crush and work partner suddenly getting hurt on his watch, followed by several failed busts in a row.
Death comes with inheritance though. His grandfather had never been rich in anything other than experiences. He did however, own 40 acres of land in the rural Midwest. Hundreds of miles away from the city where Katsuki had made a name for himself as a detective. Hundreds of miles away from Izuku.
The choice was Katsuki’s. He could sell the land to continue paying for his ridiculously expensive apartment in the city where he could continue to break his neck day and night for a job where, honestly, his superiors were a little sick of his attitude…

The stars currently floating above the elevator shaft were bright white and so sugary sweet they hurt Gideon’s teeth. No Southern Cross though— which sucked balls. She couldn’t really turn, either, to see if even a glimpse of it was visible from her second- (more likely third-) to-last resting place.
